Q: Why Brown, and why the Brown curriculum?
A: Honestly, I applied to Brown because of Untitled Bear/Lamp. When I looked at him, I could picture his creepy smile and demented button-eyes staring at me as I walked to my next class. With him, I wouldn’t ever feel alone. Further, I love the Open Curriculum–not so I can take a variety of different courses and thus enrich my liberal arts education–but so I can sit back and relax as I take all the easy classes I want. For instance, my ideal course load would be classes such as the History of the Toilet, French Pornography, 20th century Western Theatre, and “Role Play” ;). Plus, my parents and grandparents are Brown alumni, so I can freely express myself without stress over my admission.
Q: Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences.
A: Lights! Camera! TheaTRE. I have been passionate about show biz since I was fresh out of the womb. My first cry even had a bit of a musical rhythm to it. Wa wa waaa. Can’t you feel the beat?
My high school theatre experience has meant so much to me; we’re all one happy family. Once we had a hazing ritual where whoever could drink a blended McDonald’s meal the fastest would win. I won and gave it all back if you know what I mean.
Q: Why are you drawn to the area(s) of study you indicated earlier in this application?
A: I am drawn to my potential independent concentration, “Analysis of Sex”, because this is a topic that everyone is drawn to. Sex is everywhere in the media, after all, and it is something that can apply everywhere and anywhere…the question is why? In addition, I believe that it would behoove my education to concentrate in Medieval Cultures. Considering I possess the funding to never have to work again, I may as well concentrate in a topic that seems enthralling, or as the peasants say, “cool.”
Q: We all exist within communities or groups of various sizes, origins, and purposes; pick one and tell us why it is important to you, and how it has shaped you.
A: Personally, I find communities arbitrary. I prefer to use the term “cults.” My cult comprises of me, myself, my cousins, the woods, and one tent.
Q: Tell us where you have lived – and for how long – since you were born; whether you’ve always lived in the same place, or perhaps in a variety of places.
A: I am from a small town in Oregon, and have lived there since I was born. I was born a woodsy person, I will die a woodsy person, and I will always cherish the wood of my family–particularly that of my cousins.
