I am the reality of what Tucker Carlson thought he was mocking.
I have decided to do my Literary Arts honors thesis as a graphic novel examining the paternalistic relationships in Twilight. As someone who hates to work in a vacuum, I have been including my friends in every step of the drafting process.
This Thanksgiving break, I tried to sit down and start working on the actual illustration development. I sketched Edward, I sketched Bella, I sketched them together, I sketched them together (NSFW), and I did not feel any closer to a degree by the end of it.
What I did feel closer to was a higher truth about myself. When I try to explain my creative work, I sound exactly the same as someone completely zooted. Even when I’m sober at 9am on a Tuesday. The vision struck:
Did I draw for my thesis last week? Absolutely not. Is this my masterpiece? Maybe.
