Three Spicy Apology Templates For Girlbossing Your Way Through 2021

If 2020 was the year of setbacks, 2021 is the year of comebacks (except for high rates of Covid-19 and the hype surrounding Tiger King. We don’t need those coming back in 2021). Although there are plenty of external factors that can ruin or improve your life this year, outlook, behavior, and actions play an integral role in the quality of your existence, which is why it’s so important to apologize when necessary. You cannot become a better person without owning up to your mistakes, and communication is key for sustaining healthy relationships. Unfortunately, apologies can be tricky to produce, especially when you’re a busy twenty-first century woman navigating schoolwork, a social life, and a 5 am to 2 pm sleep schedule. Luckily, I’ve created three templates for the most common apologies to occur in 2021 so that you can swiftly make amends and continue to gaslight, gatekeep, and girlboss your way through this year.

Oh no! You tested positive for Covid-19 and need to text the people you exposed to the virus!

Hi everyone. As some of you might know from the Snapchat stories of me (regrettable verb ending in -ing), I recently went to (name of house that hosted a party / overpriced restaurant in Providence’s “Arts District” / island in the Caribbean). I thought I was being super safe and (synonym for safe), but I received my covid test results (time of results’ release, hopefully within 48 hours of sending this text) and they were positive (sad emoji of choice). I wanted to let all of you know because you’re either in my immediate Sunday-Wednesday pod or my greater Thursday-Saturday pod. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend (upcoming event you were planning to ditch to watch true crime documentaries) because I’ll be in isolation. However, I can’t wait to see everyone after this whole ordeal is over and hope you are all doing okay! Stay safe, and if you’d like to send me food, (Uber Eats indulgence) is preferable.

Yikes! You haven’t done a single reading for a class and the essay is due tomorrow! Time to email your professor!

Subject Line: (your name) – Extension Request

Dear (professor name),

I hope you are doing well during this (more polite way of saying absolute dumpster fire of a semester). Usually, (course title) offers a reprieve from the daily stress and turmoil of college life, but lately I’ve been struggling to keep up with assignments, participate in class, and (verb for anxiety-inducing in-class Zoom activity). This pandemic has really taken a toll on me, and my productivity has suffered because of it. As a result, I haven’t been able to complete (assignment you’ve been procrastinating for the past month) to the best of my ability. If possible, I would greatly appreciate an extension to submit the assignment on (preferred date; go big or go home with this one, there are no rules during a global pandemic, just ask Brown’s administration). Let me know if this works for you!

Thank you for your time and (noun).

Sincerely,

(Your Name)

Uh oh! You, an influencer, abused your power to prey upon vulnerable individuals! Time to say sorry and save that sponsorship cash!

Hey guys. It’s been a crazy (amount of time that has passed since news of wrongdoing broke), but I wanted to seriously reflect upon this situation before saying anything publicly out of respect for (disrespected group of people). I’m a super honest person, and the well-being of (fanbase name) is my top priority, so I’m going to be super straightforward with you guys in this (medium of apology). I never intended to hurt anyone by (scandal-inducing action that was definitely intended to hurt someone). I really missed the mark, and I apologize for my actions. (Emotional adverb). Going forward, I will (super short and vague plan for possible but unlikely self-improvement) so that I can grow from my mistakes and ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. Ever. I am so sorry for letting my friends, family, and (fans) down. My heart goes out to the victims, and my new video, (new video title), comes out next week. Thank you.

Bonus Tips: Presentation is everything in video apologies! Try sitting on your kitchen floor or using a subtle title, such as “my truth” or “IMG_2955.mov,” to really sell that you’re human and prone to mistakes. A few tears can boost viewer’s empathy too. However, try to maintain a “one tear-to-two minutes” ratio to avoid any accusations of insincerity.

Although I do not know what the rest of 2021 has in store for you, I’m confident that these apology templates will help you tackle any issue that comes your way! Now, get out there and live your best pandemic life!
