Despite what the media or your grandfather may tell you, humor is not an exclusively masculine trait. Unfortunately, both on and off campus, cisgender men tend to be overrepresented in comedy groups. Sucks, right? That’s why a couple of wide-eyed dreamers rounded up the funniest folks they knew, and in the spring of 2011, this blog was born. The Rib – a reference to Adam’s rib that created Eve, and also meaning “to joke” – looks to bring funny, foxy people together on Brown’s campus to explore what makes them laugh. We aim to create a diverse, awesome, and hilarious team of writers that consists of people who identify as women or other marginalized genders.
