On February 23rd, the city of Providence received a record 37.9 inches of snow. Students across campus rejoiced after learning they would receive a snow day, though the celebration quickly died after stepping outside of their dorms and realizing that none of the sidewalks had been cleared.
When I was forced to walk in the middle of the road, I knew something had to be done. I dug deep into the University’s budgeting files (top secret, of course) to discover where all the snow-plowing money had actually gone. After hours of searching, I found it—the money had been reallocated to fund the new Andrews bento box.
At first, I was pissed. The poke bowl was enough to keep me full on Saturday nights. But I knew that there had to be something deeper going on—maybe some sort of money laundering scheme—so I decided to try the bento box for myself, for research purposes, of course.
It was actually pretty good. The tofu was a little flavorless, but that’s the case with all tofu at Brown. But as I sat there eating my edamame dumplings, I couldn’t help but wonder, was this meal really worth traversing through a foot of snow and slipping on unmelted ice?
Maybe it would’ve been if they had bibimbap sauce.
